In May 2017 I was selected as artist in residence for Catoctin Mountain Park in Maryland. It is a tiny little park by national park standards, but it is full to the brim with adventures and breathtaking scenery. I think it is also a perfect little slice of Appalachia both in landscape and history. Another interesting piece of the park is that Camp David (the presidential retreat) is inside the park boundaries.
Through this residency I was able to spend two weeks with my family living in one of the Camp Misty Mount historic cabins. Every day we hiked, swam, fished, photographed explored and adventured in every corner of Catoctin.
Below you'll find some of my favorite spots in the park. They are available as prints through my shop or you can get a sense of my entire trip through my ebook.
